CHERI SAMBA

 

Cheri Samba is a Congolese painter, born in 1956 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He is one of the pioneers of contemporary African art and is particularly known for his vibrant and colorful works that blend popular art, traditional influences, and urban culture. Samba uses painting to address social, political, and economic issues, often commenting on the realities of everyday life in Africa. He incorporates text into his works, adding a narrative dimension. His unique style—a mix of figurative art and symbolism—has earned him international recognition. Exhibited in prestigious galleries and museums, he is a major figure in contemporary African art.
